Mother’s Day is all about celebrating the incredible women in our lives. While a grand gesture is always lovely, sometimes the most cherished memories are those created through simple, heartfelt moments, like bringing mum breakfast in bed.

Father and content creator, Tanawat (@twhattcomethru) teams up with son, Sonny, as they show you their favourite way to make Mother’s Day extra special.

Picking up the essentials

First things first, head to Sunshine Marketplace to find everything you need to create the ultimate breakfast in bed experience.

The main event of the morning will be making mum’s favourite, pancakes. Get the kids involved by picking up pancake mix which just needs milk or water and a bit of shaking, or make them from scratch with some flour, milk, eggs and butter. Make sure to get all the trimmings that mum loves too, whether it’s fresh berries, maple syrup, honey, cream or lemon and sugar. You can find all these ingredients at Woolworths. Don’t forget to grab her favourite drink to enjoy alongside her breakfast. This might be a fresh pack of quality coffee beans, a fancy tea, matcha powder for a latte, or even a special juice.

A new set of pyjamas is a cute and cosy addition to the morning. Make it even cuter with matching ones from Manchester & Co. that the whole family will love.

To serve up the pancakes, a sturdy yet stylish breakfast tray is a great option, especially if it comes with folding legs. You can find these at Big W or The Reject Shop as well as a beautiful mug or a set of serving dishes to make it even more magical.

Of course, nothing brightens a morning like flowers. Swing by Flower Emporium with the kids and pick out a vibrant bouquet of Mum’s favourite blooms.

A hand-written card decorated by the kids with their own unique drawings is a small but treasured keepsake that is the perfect way to show mum how much she is loved. You can grab all your craft kits and supplies from Better Home.

Putting it all together

With all the ingredients and gifts gathered, it’s time to make the magic happen.

Start by making the pancakes using a method you prefer. If you’re serving fruit, have the kids help wash them and pop them into little bowls to serve. Pour mum’s favourite drink into her own special glass or mug, plate up the pancakes, and then arrange everything on the breakfast tray.

Let the kids carry the bouquet of flowers into the room to give to mum and allow for all the cuddles and kisses. Then present her with the lovingly made Mother’s Day breakfast in bed and gather around her for a cosy morning filled with love.

In preparation for this Mother’s Day, head to Sunshine Marketplace to grab everything you need to create this simple tradition for warm and heartfelt memories that will last long after the last pancake is eaten.
