Get the costumes ready. The Sunshine Halloween Kids Street Party is back on Saturday 31 October, and it is a short walk from us.

From 2pm–4pm, Hampshire Road will be full of spooky characters, lolly dens, face painting and prizes for the best costumes. Here is everything you need to know, plus a few easy ways to make a full afternoon of it.

What is on at the street party

• Lolly dens: Visit all three to fill your bag with treats. Find them at Bennett Place opposite the library (275 Hampshire Road), on the Civic Green outside the restaurants (247 Hampshire Road) and inside the arcade at 254 Hampshire Road
• Face painting: On the Civic Green grass
• Live stage: Cassidy Le Creme will host the stage at Bennett Place with kids music, activities and announcements all afternoon
• Best costume competition: Winners are announced on stage at 3.30pm
• Halloween treat hunt: Find 12 posters in 12 shop windows for a chance to win one of five prizes, drawn on stage at 3.45pm

How the treat hunt works

1. Check in at the treasure hunt marquee on the Civic Green near the library
2. Scan the QR code to register and get your map
3. Find all 12 posters in the shop windows and visit the three lolly dens
4. Head back to the marquee to finish

You need to be at the stage at 3.45pm to win. If you are not there, the prize goes to the next correct entry. All children must be with a parent or guardian.

Before the party: sort the costume

Still need a costume? Pop in this week. BIG W and The Reject Shop are good places to look for Halloween costumes, face paint, buckets and decorations. You can grab everything in one quick trip.

After the party: keep the fun going

• Lunch or an early dinner: Refuel with dumplings from Dumpling Chef, fresh sushi from Hero Sushi, or something sweet from Donut King
• Movies: Wind down at Village Cinemas. Check session times before you head over
• Groceries: Tick off the weekly shop at Woolworths on your way home, so Sunday is free

Getting there

Bennett Place will be closed to traffic from 12pm–5pm. Park with us at Sunshine Marketplace and walk over to the party, then come back for lunch, the movies or the shopping.
